Marlot, better known as Jolielot on Instagram, resides in a quaint, serene village with her partner, children, and dog. Marlot shares her passion for interior design and styling with her followers, serving as a constant source of inspiration for anyone who loves a classic, modern style.
What sparked your love and passion for interior design, and how has this passion evolved over the years?
It feels like it's been in me since I was a child. Instead of playing house, I preferred rearranging furniture into new setups. I always got lost in home magazines and peeping into people's homes to form my own opinions. Travelling extensively has certainly fueled my love for interior design through the various architectures I encountered along the way.
What are the key characteristics that define your personal style?
I'd say my style is best described as classic with a modern twist. I adore neutral colours, but I always ensure the overall look never falls into dullness.
How would you describe the atmosphere you aim to create in your home?
That's always a tough question, but tranquillity reigns supreme in our household. My partner and I can be a bit chaotic at times, and with two kids, a calm environment is crucial for our relaxation. Despite my love for colour, you won't find much of it in our home. Plus, our house is still a work in progress; it still feels like an unfinished canvas. But creating an ambiance of peace and warmth is what I strive for in our home.
How do you stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the world of interior and design, and how do you differentiate yourself from others?
My Instagram algorithm is on point at the moment, haha! I follow many artists and other creative minds. Additionally, I'm always collecting coffee table books from interior designers. I'll flip through them occasionally when I have a moment to myself.

What advice would you give to young creatives focusing on design and interior?
In a world where we're constantly bombarded with stimuli, it can be challenging to discover your own style. Unconsciously, we're influenced by endless scrolling on social media. But it's important to explore your own taste and be proud of it. By embracing your unique style, you set yourself apart from the crowd. Dare to be authentic and show the world who you are. That's what makes you truly stand out.
