HPL Unilin

Unilin HPL, also known as High-Pressed Laminate, is a material made from paper and thermosetting resin. The HPL panel consists of a thin layer of HPL laminated onto a thick layer of MDF, a pressed wood fiber sheet material. Studio HENK offers two types of HPL in the collection, each with its unique qualities. Discover which finish in our collection best suits your personal style and preferences.

Sustainability
Although MDF is made from recycled wood chips, a significant amount of binder is used, making it less sustainable. However, given its long lifespan, HPL is a relatively responsible choice. The HPL in our collection is PEFC certified, which means that the wood chips come from responsible forestry.

Maintenance

Note that the use of cleaning agents can affect the finish and, consequently, the protection; therefore, use a simple damp cloth to wipe the table (then dry it). We recommend using coasters and placemats. Wood of any quality works and reacts to (air) moisture, temperature fluctuations, and light; therefore, avoid fluctuations or exposure to these. Cracks or discoloration resulting from such exposure or fluctuations are not covered under the warranty, as they are the result of customer use.

Unilin HPL is easy to clean. Thanks to its unique external closed porous layer, the table can be kept neat with simple daily maintenance. For maintenance instructions, please refer to the Unilin website. Regarding cleaning, it states (translated via Chatgpt, Dutch version is leading): "Glass cleaner and all-purpose cleaner are excellent choices. Caution: Avoid dishwashing liquid. It contains oil to protect the skin. The consequence? It may leave a film on your panel that becomes visible over time. Also, do not use abrasive products – these can damage your surface – and avoid corrosive products or products containing hydrogen peroxide – these may cause pale spots on your panel."

For detailed maintenance advice or assistance with stains, we recommend consulting the relevant maintenance document from the Unilin supplier.
